The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is Asia’s biggest and most popular regatta. Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the King of Thailand, the even has been held every year since during the first week of December.
The regatta began with a mixture of keelboats, catamarans, lasers and windsurfers. More recently the regatta has become a big boat event, attracting keelboats from around the world.
In 2009 we saw the return of dinghy racing and this year The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2013 will continue to feature dinghy racing.
The Phuket King’s Cup International Dinghy Regatta 2013
As this is a home event it is a good opportunity for the all racing fleets to take part in the regatta. No need for accommodation and sailors can make their own way to the event.
Dinghy classes include Optimist, Toppers & Lasers. We have boats available for charter to members and non-members – see prices below. Also we include a nominal fee for the coach boats costs and transport costs.
We use an outside company to help move our fleet of boats and to transfer the rib to the regatta area.
The club is looking for sponsorship to enable local and underprivileged Thai sailors the opportunity to also take part in the regatta.
We have 20 Thai sailors that would like to join the regatta. The estimated overall budget for the Thai team to compete in the Regatta is around 48,000 baht.
